Vivek Ramaswamy just said a Black baby is “probably safer in the inner streets of Chicago than in the womb of his own Black mother.”

Let that sink in. A Brown man running for governor of Ohio is using Black children as a political prop to gut reproductive rights. The audacity is staggering.

Ramaswamy built his entire brand on attacking “woke” anti-racism while standing in front of crowds and recycling the same racist tropes that have been plastered on billboards in Black neighborhoods for 20 years. He invokes Margaret Sanger to perform concern for Black lives while supporting the party that slashes Medicaid, defunds public schools, and blocks maternal health funding that keeps Black mothers and babies alive. The hypocrisy is not accidental. It is the strategy.

A man who has personally benefited from the civil rights movement and diversity in American institutions is now using Black pain to score anti-abortion points with white evangelical voters. The Congressional Black Caucus already called out his repeated racist remarks. Ohio voters need to see exactly who is asking for their trust.
